Pertanyaan Tentang Shalat Idul Fitri Dan Idul Adha

The Ruling on Praying on the Two Eid Days

Introduction

The two Eid prayers, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, are two of the most important religious holidays in the Islamic calendar. They are a time for Muslims to come together and celebrate the end of Ramadan and the pilgrimage to Mecca, respectively.

The Ruling on Praying on Eid

The scholars are unanimous that it is obligatory (fard) for every Muslim who is able to pray the two Eid prayers. The evidence for this comes from several ahadith, including the following:

"The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would go out on the day of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, and he would offer two rak'ahs of prayer."

(Sunan Abu Dawud)

The scholars also agree that the two Eid prayers are sunnah mu'akkadah, meaning that they are highly recommended but not obligatory. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was consistent in offering these prayers, even when he was ill.

The Time for Praying on Eid

The two Eid prayers are offered at different times. Eid al-Fitr is prayed on the morning of the first day of Shawwal, which is the month after Ramadan. Eid al-Adha is prayed on the morning of the tenth day of Dhul-Hijjah, which is the month of the pilgrimage to Mecca.

The time for the Eid al-Fitr prayer begins after sunrise and ends at noon. The time for the Eid al-Adha prayer begins after the sun has risen above the horizon and ends before sunset.

The Manner of Praying on Eid

The two Eid prayers are offered in a similar manner to the regular daily prayers. However, there are a few key differences.

  1. The Eid prayers are offered in two rak'ahs, with a sermon (khutbah) delivered after the prayer.
  2. The first rak'ah of each prayer is followed by six takbeers (saying "Allahu akbar").
  3. The second rak'ah of each prayer is followed by five takbeers.

Conclusion

The two Eid prayers are an important part of the Islamic tradition. They are a time for Muslims to come together and celebrate the end of Ramadan and the pilgrimage to Mecca. The prayers are offered in a similar manner to the regular daily prayers, with a few key differences.
