Joey Chestnut Wins 2022 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest
Chestnut Extends Record with 15th Victory
Joey Chestnut has once again proven himself to be the king of competitive eating, winning the 2022 Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest. Chestnut consumed 63 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, breaking his own record of 62 hot dogs set in 2021.
Sudo Claims Women's Title
In the women's division, Miki Sudo made a decisive comeback to win her first title since 2020. Sudo ate 40 hot dogs and buns, edging out Sarah Thomas by just one hot dog.
Underdog Overwhelms
Despite the pre-contest hype surrounding Geoffrey Esper, the 23-year-old underdog was only able to finish in second place with 50 hot dogs and buns. The over/under of 74.5 hot dogs proved to be too ambitious, as neither Chestnut nor Sudo came close to reaching that mark.
