18 Killed In Nepal Plane Crash

18 killed in Nepal plane crash

At least 18 people were killed after a Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft crashed during takeoff on Wednesday July 24 morning at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The aircraft, operated by US-Bangla Airlines, was carrying 71 people, including six crew members, when it crashed shortly after takeoff at 7:15 a.m. The plane was bound for the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but witnesses reported seeing the plane skid off the runway and burst into flames. Rescuers are currently working to recover the wreckage and search for survivors.

The crash is the deadliest in Nepal since 1992, when a Pakistan International Airlines plane crashed into a mountainside, killing all 167 people on board.
